Besides the Ant People, Sotuknang bids the people to make their Emergence into the Second World he has created, or a new race. The silver age is "not quite as beautiful as the First World" or Golden Age, they "will like it." Again he admonshies them to remember their Creator and his laws, and when he hears them "singing joyful praises to him", Sotuknang, he will know that they are his children and are close to his heart.
"So the people emerged to the Second World. Its name was Topka (Dark Midnight). Its derection was south, its color blue, its mineral qoechasiva, silver. Chiefs upon it were salavi; the spruce; kwahu, the eagle; and kolichiyaw, the skunk."
The Second World "was a big land" and the people spread all over "it to all directions, even to the other side of the world." This was no problem because the people were still "so close in spirit they could see and talk to each other from the center on the top of the head. Because this door was still open, they felt close to Sotuknang and they sang joyful praises to their Creator, Taiowa."
By that time the animals were already "wild and kept apart" - the people tended to their own affairs." They built homes and villages and made roads and "things with their hands and stored food like the Ant People."
Things went commercial and with it downhill again. Even though they had everything they needed in the Second world, they wanted more and more of what they didn't need. They didn't realize that they drew "step by step from the good life" afforded them, and instead of singing joyfully to Taiowa they sang praises to material things into their cell phones and especially their SUV's, and pretending nothing was wrong a war broke out again.
"Still there were a few people in every village", today we call them the Brotherhood, "who sang the song of their Creation. But the wicked people laughed at them until they could sing it only in their hearts", for then and now " . . when the heart feels it can not be comprehended, it confides no more." Bulwer Lytton.
No matter, Sotuknang heard the silent song of the few people "through their centers and the centers of the earth." Again the Hopi say that our and the earth centers are connected.
Sotuknang "suddenly appeared before" the few, or they saw clearly by their still open door of the thinking center called brain, the "instrument and first power" personified in Sotuknang, thought being the most powerful god in the universe, and says to them that Spider women told him "your thread is running out on this world." Things were once again beyond repair, Taiowa and Sotuknang decided "to destroy this Second World just as soon as we put you people who still have the song in your hearts in a safe place."
Like "on the First World", Sotuknang asked the Ant People "to open up their underground world for the chosen people." As soon as they were safe, he recalled the twins holding the world in equilibrium "at the north and south ends of the world's axis." They did, the world lost its balance "rolled over twice" causing great upheaval on the earth, and spinning through space "froze into solid ice." I know I said part of this and part of the other before, but have to follow the plan.
So ended the Second World Topka
