I think a comprehensive comparison between Smyth's and Petrie's measurements on the one hand and M & R's on the other would be of some help here.
Unfortunately, it is a task I am not in a position to complete.

That these blocks were built in situ is an anathema to those folks who hypothesise that Khufu’s funeral entourage reached the upper chambers via the Ascending Passage.
It’s easy to understand why; if the funeral entourage couldn’t use the Ascending Passage, how could they have reached the upper chambers?
True, we have the Well Shaft; but it is quite narrow in places, has awkward bends in it, and certainly (?) couldn’t have allowed the passage of an adult’s coffin.
It appears that we have what Sherlock Holmes would have described as a “three pipe problem”…
