I'm looking at the "drawings" made by M&R, and they clearly show clearance all the way around the blocks, top and sides.

No, there isn't. This isn't a murder trial. The preponderance of evidence here says this was Khufu's tomb and the plugstones were released to seal the passage after the body was interred.
