A brilliant comment Byrd. I think you hit the nail on the head. I can't really nail down this war. I guess that makes my decision at this time easy... which is to shelve the theory.
The war is supposed to be the Athenians vs. Atlanteans... and yet the location I chose for the city of Atlantis would seem to be home of the great Greco-Egyptians, and not really a city that an Athens would want to go to war with.
Hypothetical 1:
From my "war of Athena" section(11), it would seem to imply that the war was against Aithiopians.
Quote
"In her left hand she holds an apple branch, in her right hand a cup on which are wrought Aithiopans."
Of course there are eastern ethiopians and western ethiopians. Choosing a city in the western delta, then the western ethiopians would be the enemy, implying that the story is garbled and that the Atlantians weren't the enemy.
Hypothetical 2:
One of the Atlantian Kings is named Evaemon. The Cornarius Critias seems to call him Eudaemon (is this a mistake?). Eudaemon is listed as a Son of Egyptus, which would seem to place him on the opposite side of the Nile Delta, in the Nome of Arabia. Over there you've got abaris which had Hyksos(Syrians?), and a Minoan Palace(Cretans?). Potentially that city were the bad guys (in spite of it being a different location).
Hypothetical 3:
The Phaethon mythology says he was descended from Cecrops, his mother was Titaea, and he went to Syria(appolodorus). Potentially making Syria the bad guys. There are Aegean Frescos there too.

Certainly I don't think it would be too hard to find in Egyptian History war with the Syrians. But which one?
There are probably more hypotheticals as well. But no, I can't seem to nail this down. So I guess this isn't ready for primetime. Thanks for taking the time to read the theory, and for the comment as well, Byrd (and you too Ogygos).
