Hello C. Wayne,
The length of the DP floor and its mean gradient would be useful.
And going by Lee's post to you, a copy of Plate 4 would be very helpful.
My thanks for your offer of help with this.
Hello Lee,
Thinking back back to my post to you earlier this evening (UK) and in light of the quote you give from M&R re the wear at the 'extreme north', etc.
I wrote, "As I mentioned in an earlier post, the south end of the Passage floor is 3” or so above the north end.
I’m tempted to tie this in with Edgar’s observation about the wear at the start (north end) of the Passage, but feel that this wear would be seen at the other end of the floor, too."
It now occurs to me that the floor area of the end of the DP and the start of the SP has been cleared of debris several times over the centuries.
This suggests to me that the wear M&R mention is the direct result of these clearances.
In which case we should not expect to see the same degree of wear at the other end of the Passage.
This has me thinking that we should raise Petrie's 0 level for the Sub Passage floor to the level of the floor at the south end of the Passage.
Such a move means that the intended and/or original height of the Passage is 35.5" to 36.5" and not 38.3" (the measure at the start [north end] of the Sub Passage.
Any feedback from you and or anybody else would be most welcome.
Regards to all.
MJ
