Hello Clive,
The Edgar brothers were concerned with the floor of the Descending Passage not the ceiling.
I have explained why I refer to the 1925 survey in preference to Petrie’s measurements of the base (see my post which includes relevant quotes from Cole’s survey report).
It is a matter of historical record that Petrie deferred to Howard Vyse (and Perring) for the length of the Descending Passage because he did not have full access to the south end of the Passage floor
Why you should see this as “a mess” is beyond me.
BTW, I think it is worth noting here that Petrie deferred to Piazzi Smyth when it came to the height of the Grand Gallery.

It would be more correct to say my hypothesis (which is not about the length of the royal cubit, as such) fits the data quite comfortably.

I quoted these measurements in direct response to your, “Now check Petrie's measures with reference to the descending passage and read what distance that he first encounters solid rock from the entrance.”
It is for you to tell me what is significant about these measurements; it is not for me to work it out for myself.

There are two horizontal passages connected to the Subterranean Chamber (SC).
I presume you are referring to the horizontal passage running between the end of the Descending Passage (DP) and the SC.
The length of the horizontal floor depends on which side (east or west) of the floor the measurements are taken, what one takes as the starting point (the end of the Descending Passage floor or the start of the horizontal floor), and where the end point of this floor is.
Because of this the length of the horizontal floor varies is between 347” and 352”.
However, if allowance is made for the undressed east side of the doorway in the SC’s north wall, then we are probably looking at 347” to 348”.
As for the passage proper, the roof is 20” shorter than the horizontal floor, making it 327” to 328” long.

I didn’t miss it.
I couldn’t follow it.
