I don't know Graham Hancock except through a little of his writing and several videos. Several things suggest to me he is genuinely interested in these questions and is seeking the truth but his motivation beyond this is mostly opaque to me. Sure he's making money and sure some of his followers are gullible but this doesn't change the fact that all of his insights are legitimate and real and that the questions he asks are not being addressed by Egyptology, anthropology, and archaeologists. As he says everything addressed to him is just a restatement of what is believed today; the narrative.
I've always said something very very similar to what Hancock is saying; that all science, all knowledge, all understanding is metaphysical in nature. It is impossible to understand anything at all without having a solid metaphysical foundation. We know what underlies modern science but what underlies the established presence of ancient civilization? Superstition kills and destroys but scientists today would have us believe that ancient civilization was based on superstition and beliefs. It is simply impossible which suggests very strongly that the narrative is fundamentally flawed.
