The search engines hit their nadir a few months ago. It is still difficult to turn up specific resources even when you know phrases in them.
The search engines have never really been good since I started using them extensively in 2006. But in those days they were like tools that did as they were directed and the difficulty was in finding relevant hits. Now days they simply don't and there was a steady regression until quite recently. Even today though they do not turn up all relevant material. They turn up things for sale, things that are behind paywalls, famous people, and doctrine preferentially to relevancy. The search engines today can't do the things they did in 2005. In the old days after the turn of the century you could just ask a question and get an answer. Now days you can get any answer you desire especially if it agrees with doctrine.
