The precise order of construction is somewhat uncertain; it appears that there might be a Year 5 (???) date in one of the mastabas by Khufu’s pyramid. It seems self-evident that the paucity of structures on the south side of the GP is explained by the fact that this was where most of the stone was hauled up; moreover, they would have been late constructions. It's unlikely in the extreme that the AEs employed serial construction, as you seem to be suggesting. They were rather good at parallel processing ...
