I doubt if any logical thinking individual would find an answer from his report.
I have studied this site previously and I’m not convinced that it was a pyramid.
Hawass does not provide sufficient evidence to warrant it being claimed as a pyramid structure, but he certainly gives it his best shot…!
Reisner inspected the area and overlooked the structure’s base foundation...missed it completely and old photos indicate it being no more than a rubble heap. Yet, in the 1950’s, a road is built beside that very location and still the base is not discovered.
1991 sees the road dismantled and presto...we have a new pyramid with base and casing in situ. Of course, thanks to Dr. Z. Hawass, we now have a beautiful shaped base of pristine limestone casing surrounding its exterior indicating the original size, shape, height and angle of the pyramid. It’s located adjacent to a small pyramidal shaped cone that he also claims would have fitted perfectly on top of Khufu’s pyramid...right next to his space ship…!!!
Nice work...but...that's not archeology...it's no more than sloppy showmanship!
It must be considered that many pits have been discovered around the base of Khufu’s pyramid and they are also cut into bedrock. Are we to believe that all of these had pyramidal or mastaba shaped coverings? I know for a fact that they didn’t.
I think Hawass was very astute when stating the following:
“...1. Description of the Pyramid:
The ruins of the satellite pyramid cover an area approximately 24 m square..[clip]... The remains include fine, Tura-quality limestone blocks from the pyramid’s outer casing and perimeter foundation, some of which remained in situ...[clip]..., large blocks of cruder limestone and debris that filled the core of the pyramid, and a passage and chamber cut into the bedrock. All the masonry of the pyramid core had been removed from above the substructure when we excavated the pyramid. We found the passage and chamber unroofed and open to the sky...”
Reads great but it boils down to…no pyramid, just a squared-off area with dimensions marked/cut in the bedrock. The underground storage filled with sand and stones...that's what he actually discovered.
The angled white limestone casing that Hawass found at this location probably came from the west base of both G1b and G1c during the road’s construction in the 1950’s. The identical area where Vyse found his angular casing stone that "fell" undamaged from the top of Khufu’s pyramid.
Photographic evidence clearly indicates these two structures damage at their western base but little damage to their other three sides...coincidence...is what we must presume.
Ask Jon. He has photos of these two satellite pyramids showing the immaculate white limestone casing at their base...but not on their western sides.
Best.
