I've only started reading the bible since studying Egypt. I have absolutely no interest in the new testament. My study of this is largely to try to reconcile the omission of direct references to the pyramids with their importance in ancient times. I believe all this ties together neatly with an explanation for prehistory and history up to the present day.

There were most assuredly vengeful gods in Egyptian beliefs. There was the goddess who ravaged the delta and if memory serves even Atum got into the act a little. I'm fully aware that this was not the reason for their existence. Most were always benign but had the power to destroy should They so choose.

So many of the proper nouns in the PT's are not translated. These wouldn't be kings' names or they would be recognized and translated. The implication would seem to be that most of these are gods. Perhaps these are the dead kings under new names. Some of the translatable proper nouns might be kings as well.
