The ancients worked their fingers to the bone, depleted the treasury
and stood their daily life on end from one end of Egypt to the other
to create the greatest tombs imaginable so their kings could have a
proper death and a life among the gods. No matter whether the pyra-
mids were tombs or launching pads they still required huge effort.

Yet all kings seem to be forgotten almost as soon as they died. There
are no mentions of kings in the Pyramid Texts or, so far as I know, any-
where else. Wouldn't these people have wakened up after a couple of
pyramids to the fact that the king would be forgotten soon enough? Why
expend such huge amounts of resources if everyone (including the king)
knew they'd be forgotten as surely as the man in the street?

This seems to fly in the face of human nature, and people everywhere
have always been just about the same. There are limited numbers of
ways to put two and two together no matter the language or the relig-
ious beliefs. You can put two and two together and get the Great Pyr-
amid but it would certainly seem to require that if the king still
lives then he must still have an effect on Earth even if only to know
of his exploits in death.

Either the kings changed names after death or the pyramids aren't tombs.
