Two points are meaningless. Any two points can be matched with any two objects.

Three points are the minimum number of points required to establish a pattern correlation. As the number of points increase, the ease with which a statistical relationship may be established likewise increases. However, it does not follow from this that no relationship can be established on the basis of three points - for increases in magnitudes of accuracy have a similar effect upon the statistical relationship as do magnitudes of complexity.

A hypothetical three point correlation that is exact (literaly) is much easier to establish statistically than a seven point correlation that exhibits even the smallest error.

Now, in the real world, an exact correlation is impossible (of course). But with each measurable increase in accuracy, the correlation more closely approaches certitude.

Changes in scale have no effect upon the argument - as angles remain constant and distances remain relative. It is the ratio between the three sides of the triangle produced by the points and the angles exhibited at each vertex which are the only proper objects of comparison. As Steven Tonkin has pointed out, scale depends on the observers point of view (how far apart are stars? Is the distance, measured in centimeters or light years?).
