I agree with your sentiments and general conclusions re. the Bent Pyramid.
From experience, it's really not that difficult to go measure a Pyramid for yourself. I can only speak about the Meidum, Red and Giza Pyramids, since the Bent was utterly inaccessible 10 or so years ago. And unfortunately so.
You get some surveyor's tools, digital range finders, inclinometers, etc., and make your way to Egypt. I never once came across a guard, let alone an egyptologist, inside any Pyramid during the numerous times I went. I never came across anybody at all at the Meidum, except for the guys outside with machine guns, who you give 20 bucks to, drink tea with, and proceed with your business. There was rarely anybody else at Dashur. At Giza, you get your ticket early in the morning, but go into the Khufu or Khafre later in the morning to avoid the tourists the best one can. I believe the Menkaure is still closed. You'll need a voice recorder to speak results into since your hands will be too full to write, and the lighting isn't always good. Take a trash bag, and leave things better than you found them.
You also have the option nowadays to set up a 'go fund me' page, to which I, and probably many others would happily contribute. Remember that the Disneygyptologists are the enemies of truth and accuracy in this respect, do not expect any help there, only hindrance.
Best regards.
