Well, I suppose one could proffer: Why? Because the hypothesis is plausible and is supported by hard evidence.

Be this as it may, it remains a matter of fact that people can use the same "Why" and yet arrive at different conclusions.
For all M & Rs logic and interpreation of the evidence, they could still be wrong.
