Has anyone pondered the opposite elevation, namely the blocks of the GG roof?

What was supporting the blocks as the next layer was put in place farther inward(towards each other)?

If they built the pyramid layer by layer then only one layer of blocks(or single block as may be) would be keeping the extended block from teetering into the GG as the next block was put in place farther inward(on to the overhang) so would these hve been additinally used as placement for scaffolding/support structure that needed to be in place for quite a long time until ceiling was completed?
