Hello Poundr17,
You write, 'the 77 cubits is measured from the level of the junction of the King Chamber shafts, as shown by Gantenbrink on his site - is this incorrect ?'
I have Gantenbrink's drawings on screen but I'm not sure what point I am looking for.
I'm focussing on the actual floor line of the shaft.
Please could you let me know which 'junction' you are looking at?
Thank you.
You ask, 'but what about QC south ? the 121 sloping, 77 vertical seems to give a better fit with Gantenbrink's surveyed angle than Legon's assumed angle.'
As the actual sloping floor of this shaft is approx. 109.72 royal cubits long and 69.951 royal cubits high, projected lines must be involved here (and with the KC north shaft, now I think about it), but I fail to see where they are and where they are going.
Once again some clarification would be helpful.
I've tried projecting the line to vertically below the QC's apex (of the east wall) but it doesn't appear to be that.
I hope I'm not being too much of a nuisance with this. I think I'm being a bit 'slow' today.
Regards,
MJ
