Hello C. Wayne,
Thank you for the link.
As it turns out, I already have a hard copy of your interesting examination of Petrie's and Gantenbrink's data on the shafts.
Me being me I had forgotten I had it.
I'm having a little difficulty reconciling Petrie's figures with level 103 and need to go back over my own calculations - as it stands at the moment I'm up to 26" or so adrift.
I think part of the problem lies with Petrie's
General Summary of the Positions inside the Great Pyramid in so far as some of the figures are different to what appears elsewhere in his book P&ToG, or are actually incorrect (I've already mentioned how 172.9" should be 173.69").
As soon as I've checked everything through again I'll get back to you.
BTW, I've just noticed something intriguing about the vertical heights of the KC and QC shafts.
If my analysis of Gantenbrink's data is correct, then the vertical heights of all four shafts is very close (within an inch or so) to the equivalent of 70 royal cubits (as 20.632"/524mms), which could be seen as one-quarter of the Pyramid's intended height.
This tentatively suggests to me that the QC shafts were intended from the beginning to end where they do; which in turn has me thinking - even more tentatively - that the KC shafts never reached the north and south faces of the Pyramid, and never were intended to...
Regards,
MJ
