Waxes are bad because they can trap other things and cement them to the food. You can push your supermarkets to avoid this. Get petitions going and write letters. Ours are pretty good about it. If foods come in waxed, you can either peel them or try scrubbing with a grease cutting detergent, depending on the food, but rinse well if you use a detergent.
