<HTML>Uneasy bedfellows, I agree Joe, I also am in sympathy with your last paragraph, I am not for decrying science, for it has given us medical advances (Albeit at a cost), helped us to come to understandings about the Cosmos,and this here Internet; but try as they might,so far scientists cannot yet come up with the so-called unified theory.
I wonder though, how satisying it really all is, we have notionally more of everything, and yet more people are becomming unhappy, drug and drink abuse amongst the young is steadily rising.
In regard to the past, it is the need for it to have a quality that is above the mundane, that transcends everydayness, it is this very need that makes GH and RB so appealing and Orthodoxy so dreary, people get enough of that in the day to day problems of just existing, and need to have Mysterious aspects of the past , is for most at least, a counter-balance against the problems of modern life in a mostly secular western society.
