<HTML>Hi Greg:
No I feel that these two sentences sum up my beliefs perfecty. Just a clarification; the things that are suggested must, in my own mind either be possible or probable. Anyone claiming that the ancients built a spacecraft and visited the stars would not get the same support as the idea ( like Anthony's ) that the ancients may have used a simple device that we have either forgotten or negleccted. Likewise with Crichton Miller and his "Crichton Cross", which by the way was attacked very harshly by certain members of this board, without actually going out and testing it themselves. I may be a little too quick to accept these things but there are others who are just a little too quick to dismiss them as impossible.
It is interesting that you bring up God and faith. I have often wondered why scientist take such a passive stance on this belief. There are 10's of millions who believe in the God of the Bible. Especially the orthodox Jewish faith ( only mentioned because of their strict adherance to the old testament ) . Why are they not attacked as strongly. Why is alright for millions to accept that god talks to people, created the universe, took an active part in history by continually changing the outcome of battles and demanded sacrifices. You may well claim that this is all faith but you must never forget that these people believe these things TO BE FACTS ! May I suggest that you forget about those like myself who are willing to bend a bit with the possibility of things discovered and lost with man's ingenuity and instead concentrate all the various religions of the world which are the main culprits in keeping "Man" in the dark ages.
I remember the recent cases in the US where evolution was being challenged by certain school boards who were insisting that these beliefs be taught in the school. Science immediately jumped in and put an abrupt halt to this but seemed to forget that these beliefs are still being taught at home and in the churches around the world. Greg forget about me and the others like me and if you are really concerned about "fringe" ideas attack where attack is most warranted. Well that's the way I see it anyway.
Cheers
