suffice to say ..Mohammed was no more able to move either of them, than he was Mt. Sinai

How do you come to ask if the Step was 'Sacred' to Mohammed in light of the following..

and again...just exactly what do you mean when you say "Sacred" in this context?

here is the pertinent excerpt from the Koran...

Chapter 52 begins...

"In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

By the Mountain (Mt Sinai) and by the Scripture penned on unrolled parchment; by the visited House(the Ka'ba), the lofty Vault(the sky), and the swelling sea, your Lord's punishment shall surely come to pass! No power shall ward it off."

I think one CAN find parallels between the above and AE symbolism

a mountain----pyramid
scripture and parchment------hieroglyphs on papyrus
Ka'Ba----- the Ka and the Ba
the Sky---- the Sky
the swelling sea----- the inundation of the Nile
the Lord's Punishment---the scales of Ma'at

all the AE aspects listed above were well known at that time

Arabic does have some Egyptian roots

I'm not in any way suggesting that the one is directly associated with other. But just as we can see how Roman beliefs adopted Greek Iconography and traditions to their own ends ...we can observe how Christian beliefs adopted those of the Romans, the Greeks, and the AEs to Their own ends.

Elemental Concepts and the Divine. It pops up everywhere all through time. But again, I do not mean to imply that the indivual beliefs are learned. Rather just the vehicles/mechanisms for communicating/teaching/reinforcing them are in some instances coopted.

Hope this helps
