A very interesting concept, the 'Taylor' point unfortunately is a problem, any solutions in the works? I like the approach of starting without the site, we have to assume in the context of a group, set of three, the architect/s had a template in mind before any work began, thus a concept envisioned before hand is required. Using the stars of Orions belt appears to be a good concept or thought process that could be employed, however as you have discovered either they failed at the attempt to reproduce them or they were looking at something else.

If you read the full thread at Guardians you will see that I was working on a very loose concept that suggested the coffer in the Kings chamber (G1) by its characteristics belongs to an earlier period, I found that its dimensions fit the Menkaure coffer recess located in the western third of his pyramids 'anti-chamber'. That portion of the chamber had a pavement (M&R) of which its extent is revealed by marks along the walls in that part. Adding the depth of the floor recess to the height of the pavement also appears to match a level of faint discolorization of the coffer and aligns with the break-in point of the coffer's south-east corner.

That was nearly two years ago, and fortunately I have gathered and learned more since. If and I want to preface the IF, the coffer in G1 was removed from G3 and placed there it requires an explanation beyond its character and measurements. Though the basic characteristics are worth revisting here, first of all it would mean that it was not Khufu's coffer, and this point seems contextually appropriate on the merits of all the other coffers and their artistic characteristics recovered from the late third dynasty and fourth dynasty minus Khafre's coffer, which is larger by length and shorter by height and very much polished. Second, we know by the coffers measurements it would have easiliy been removed from G3, interesting because the later phase of interior design was dug from the inside out to create the entrance we see today, but on the contrary it would not have been able to enter G1, this suggests at the very least that it was lowered into the chamber regardless of it origins. One last observation of characteristic, when I visited the coffer the color and grain of the granite is significantly different from all the others used in the chamber which suggests it was quarried from a different location and stratem of granite. But why do such a thing as move one coffer from a tomb and place it in another? My guess; if all kings were the incarnation of god on earth, when they died and moved on to the celestial heavens it was they who helped to usher the newly deceased king (god ~ horus) to meet with Sokar-Ptah-Osiris, and it was they who guided the newly deceased to Re's solar bark, hence the assumtion is that by moving an older coffer into the 'instrument' of a pyramid was a kind of guarantee or added mojo (magic) effort so that the former deceased would return there to aid the newly deceased in his ascension. There are many texts that avert to this concept but none that directly asert moving something to effect it.

Well, as you state, Menkaure's pyramid was integral for one aspect of the site, IM-Humble-O it was incorporated as a starting point for the design but not the determinative element.
