I would never consider Cole for that reason.

Some of the very early surveys might yield interesting data but you have to be careful when using it.

The surveys you refer to are Petrie's and Cole's surveys of G1's base.It makes sense to use Cole's survey for the base of G1 and to use Petrie's survey for the remainder because Petrie did not survey the base lines of G1. He theorized a square base. Cole's survey found an off-center irregular diamond shape.

The differences between the two surveys is so small that either one produces very accurate results.
