The queen's chamber is hardly the best position from which to make these observations.

The use of "drones" implies they've already drilled holes into the void so they have this confirmation it exists.

The infrared testing suggests results will not be released if they are "surprising".

The existence of holes into this void also implies they have seen what's inside from a few different angles and there is nothing very surprising (or interesting).

Like most "news" now days anything you didn't know has to be found between the lines. What is actually said makes little sense or is false.


I should add that the use of drones also suggests I may have been wrong when I said the balloon drones were designed for the thermal anomaly on the east side. At that time I doubted they had had time to drill into the new void and its location was still unknown so I doubted they'd try. It's been so many years now that some of the details are hazy there never has been much data with which to work. It is not impossible that other robotic systems could be meant by the word "drone" but the implication is that this would be an aerial system and specifically the kind of system whose proposal disturbed Dr Hawass back in 2016. If they already are sure enough this is uninteresting to announce when results will be released it would seem that this void is probably not part of a passage and it is probably parallel to the grand gallery. If true then its purpose was likely to save lifting the stones that would have been here and to reduce the weight on the grand gallery.
