My guess is there are a number of things going on with the scan project, none of it will lead to drilling or hidden chambers. First and foremost, the group probably had to pay a significant sum for the permit(s)... It's non-invasive, and it gets lots of press. All of these and perhaps a few more benefit the ministry, I don't think they can lose. Keeping the tourism has to outweigh the fiction no matter.
