Your points are all off topic or have been addressed numerous times before.

"Drone" in an unabridged dictionary is;

"a box with perforated metal openings"
"one who lives by the labor of others"
"a tube on a bagpipe (specific)
"a bee (specific)
"wasting money"
"a drum"
"remotely controlled flying vehicle"

We don't get to define the word for the author and we certainly don't get to make specific inferences about the exact nature and characteristics of the specific referent. This is ALWAYS true and it is most especially true when translations are of Dr Hawass' statements or the understanding of them by reporters who may or may not speak English. For all we know this word was run through a computer and any of the synonyms for the words of the definitions above may have been intended. The only object that fits the last definition that has appeared in this story previously is a drone balloon that could be inserted through a 1 1/4" hole and inflated to view the interior. The scientists offered to fly a balloon into the pyramid a few years back (2017?) and Hawass took umbrage and said no one was authorized to make public such an offer. There is a high probability THIS IS THE REFERENT.

In other words for all we know Dr Hawass said he was going to sieve through the data and this was mistranslated as a metal box with holes or someone thought the whole thing was a waste of money. Maybe they are trying to drum up interest. I don't know what was meant in the article but I can certainly speculate that they plan to fly the balloon into this void implying it has ALREADY been damaged by drilling.

Language is a funny thing. People always disclose what they believe by their choice of words. This works on any language at all and even on translations. The farther removed you are from the author the more material is needed to understand his meaning. A few words in the news media translated from Egyptian are often confusing.
