Possibly.
But what possible testing can be done from such an unstable platform? Perhaps infrared snapshots but they've already made it clear that they don't care about infrared results and any heat signature visible in real time from an elevation would be more easily seen from other stationary vantages and/ or over time. Of course "drone" could have other meanings or could have been inappropriately chose and/ or misreported. It's always been difficult to understand direct statements from Hawass so why would indirect or reported ideas be any different?

It seems unlikely after all these years that the data will ever be released until there are fundamental changes in the interpretation of the data or in the interpreters. People don't seem to care and even the peers who lack access to the data don't care. The status quo is firmly entrenched and this is what almost everyone wants.
It will certainly be interesting to see what if anything ever comes from this but odds are in the late autumn we'll get pictures of a rough void above and parallel to the grand gallery along with new muon images taken from a location that is inappropriate for imaging this area. I suppose tourists in the grand gallery are worth more to Egyptology than good images of a rough and unimportant void above. In other words this is not "news" at all because Hawass already knows what is up here. Meanwhile we still don't hear anything of the thermal anomalies because they run counter to Egyptological beliefs.
