What strikes me as peculiar is that it was a given in Theosophy that Orion represented 'the soul of Osiris' even before any reliable translations of Egyptian text and examination of artifact, the Classical referances of Plutarch are for Sirius as 'the soull of Isis' and Orion as 'the soul of Hrous', there isn't as far as i know a direct association of Osiris with Orion even from the Classical Period.

The assumption then seems to have been from the earliest examination of the Pyramid texts that 'Sah' would equate with the Theosophical premise of the 'soul of Osiris'/Orion, and Sopdet with the 'soul of Isis'/Sirius.

As has been discussed, there is no direct Egyptian evidence for any of this, and it's remarkable the manner in which the name of Sah has been replaced by Orion, a most unusual practise, but once done the last thing they'd ever want to see is a re-identification of Sah, and and i suspect to some degree those 2nd Dynasty seals showing the King fallen upon his side simply cannot be accomodated without major emmbarrasment.




It was 'Isis in the heaven' and called Isis-Sothis, for Isis was 'in the constellation of the dog,' as is declared on her monuments. 'The soul of Osiris was believed to reside in a personage who walks with great steps in front of sothis, sceptre in hand and a whip upon his shoulder.' (Theosophy)
