Oops - I didn't read the part about an actual letter from the Queen being found.
I thought it was just records engraved by Supp's son or grandson - I am behind the
times
But would an Egyptian Queen have considered foreign royalty her equals? I grant
a foreign alliance might have had some advantages but Zannanza was no more divine
than any Egyptian noble would have been - less so than the assorted royal grandson's,
great grandsons etc. which must have been numerous. I mean given the size of Amenhotep III's
harim and his thirty odd years of procreative activity, not to mention his Dad's and
his uncles and his granddad.... Ankhesenamon must have had little or no native support to turn to a foreigner. Frankly I was reluctant to believe any Egyptian queen could
be so stupid - obviously I was wrong.
Ankhes was certainly Tut's Great Wife but was she his only wife? If the
'Young Lady' really is nulliparous then either she isn't Ankhes or Ankhes
wasn't the mother of the two fetuses in Tut's tomb.
The more I think about it the odder it seems that Ankhes isn't in Tut's tomb
paintings, wasn't the widow normally depicted mourning and clinging to the mummy's
feet? Was Ankhes already in disgrace or dead?
