However, the sun's boat is simply a boat, built by Khnum, used for the east/west crossing of the sky. The time of day of the crossing is not specified in your selected quotations. One could just as easily argue that the boat was being used at night to ferry the king across the night sky, since he was being rowed by the Imperishables. Notice there is no mention of Re being in the boat with the king. Nor is there a quote, to my recollection, that says the rowers/Imperishables ever row Re across while he occupies his barq. Unfortunately, I don't have any of my PT texts with me.

In fact, don't the texts specify that the sun/Re changes boats for his nighttime travel? I seem to recall reading that somewhere. I didn't think it terribly significant at the time, but in relation to this discussion it might be the clue we're looking for.
