Hi Lillian. Sorry for the delay in reply...been hectic here, lol. I'm sure that you've heard alot of stories as well after living out here for 25 years. We're planning on moving back onto the reservation in June or July ourselves...as well as putting in tons of security lights around the premises. The brighter the better, lol. It's kind of interesting how information does get passed around even with the taboos, isn't it? I remember we were looking to rent a house in the Blackhat area not too long ago and it was rather remote. It was a mixed couple and, finally, my husband had to ask if there were any "nighttime problems". Ironically enough, just the mere insinuation was enough for the couple to know precisely what we were asking about without ever once stating or asking anything outright.

I have seen reports of them running at those speeds. I recall another woman mentioning that her roommate had been pursued by some at great lengths and speeds as well. My husband has only seen them go up to 45 mph but that's all they needed to do to keep up. Whether they can go faster than that or not, I don't know. Do you recall if it was more than one that chased them?

I remember part of the blessing way was to embibe and spread a herbal water blessed by the medicine man onto any troublesome body parts to help treat any signs of curse. I'm not sure if it is related but we did find odd dusty markings on our newly cleaned vehicle when we were living on the reservation. No clue what they were about but they were quite prominent on one of the windows and resisted wind and everything. It looked like the dust was affixed to the window by some light greasy substance (didn't touch it directly to find out lol).
