If you are following our lead, my sympathies, then, because soon you'll be getting the commercials while you're on hold. My ISP gives phone service and the first thing you hear is "Welcome, ask about our new digital phone service." Then you get a "welcome, to the company, thank you for calling, This call may be recorded for quality assurance and training purposes" (translation: we're going to record you, so don't even think about having the tantrum you want to have). Then you get messages "Did you know about our new service..., our new products, etc." When you call financial companies, you hear about mortgages, credit cards, loans, it goes on and on, nothing to do with whatever reason you have for calling, cause you haven't had a chance to select your option yet. Usually you have to sit through this garbage just to get to the main menu. They have a captive audience and they know it. My phone company now takes over 6 minutes now to get to the main menu!
