So, how would
you prefer foxes to be hunted/killed?
Poisoning? Fox bleeds to death internally over a period hours or, sometimes, days?
Snaring? Snares in this country have, by law, to be checked every 24 hours, so the animal could suffer for nearly that length of time. Snares are also indiscriminate.
Shooting? The fact is that a very large number, probably a majority, of shot foxes are wounded, not killed outright. In the sort of countryside where foxes live, they can be exceptionally difficult to find -- especially without the aid of dogs. Wounded animals suffer, sometimes greatly.
By comparison, hunting with hounds is relatively quick and humane.
