I've had this conversation with my friends a few times now and it always runs the same way
Me " so why should hunting be banned"
Them " because its cruel to foxes"
Me " you appreciate the perspective that foxes are vermin and need to be controlled"
Them "oh yes"
Me " So what's the answer, it seems to me that i would much prefer to be ripped apart and dead in a few seconds than die a slow agonising death from eating a poison that dissolved me from the inside out"
Them " um err . dunno"
The best answer we've worked out so far is for dogs to be fitted with some form of sponge mouthpiece that doesn't injure the fox so that it can be captured unharmed and executed by lethal injection.
When substituting chickens for foxes all moral dilemmas evaporate
When substituting rats for chickens all high moral ground eveporates completely and is replaced by a sneer "urgh rats"
Nobody it seems cares about chickens or rats
just not cute and cuddly enough
The first guy that breeds a chicken rat that can outrun a fox is gonna make a fortune and start a new form of sport all at once
