There are none so blind as those who will not see that war, any war, is the scourge of humanity. It is nations gone mad, throwing their sons and daughters as cannon fodder.
If you have to go to war, you go to war in extremis, when there is an imminent threat of invasion and destruction from an aggressive military enemy, and no choice is left by to defend you nation. The USA is nowhere near in this position nor is likely to be in this position in the foreseeable future. Yes, a terrible crime has been committed by insane criminals. We all agree that they must be tracked down and punished most severely. But surely you do not go to war on this, and drag along NATO and risk a WWIII. No matter how outraged and angry you are.
In any case, all this is becoming academic. It's too late. You have handed full power of decision to President George W. Bush whom 51 % of American voted for less than a year ago. And according to CNN he has just stated: "We are at war, and we will lead the world to victory!".
Let's hope he knows what he's doing.
