<HTML>Hi Don
I'm watching CNN and I note that the US are not expecting the Taleban to respond positively to the Pakistan delegation that are going to deliver what's best described as an ultimatium tomorrow.
Out of interest<a href="[
news.bbc.co.uk] a BBC report TWO YEARS AGO</a>
"Mullah Omar said that over the course of history, Afghanistan had never been a hideout for terrorists.
But he said the Taleban were ready to negotiate with anybody concerning the prevention of terrorism.
By this, he no doubt meant both the United States and now Pakistan, the Taleban's main supporter. "
We'll soon see if those words (2 years ago) are going to hold now.
I agree that the US (and NATO and everyone else) have an obligation to defend their citizens from foreign attack. I also acknowledge that we enjoy our freedom today because our ancestors were prepared to fight and die for them. We must also be prepared to defend our freedom for our next generations - our children included.
But it's still very very depressing. I'm still watching the people in New York searching and not giving up on their loved ones.
