You suggest they had a small model of the structures before they started and "on site" construction, right?
Are you suggesting that the funerary complex wasn't complete at time of construction, or perhaps the structures, other then the main pyramid and the "queens' pyramids", were later add ons after the start of the "important" pyramids?
It was a funerary complex. It was designed together as a whole not as a "build four pyramids and we will throw in a a couple of temples for free later" type of project. As such the pyramids, the temples, and causeway would be designed together as a whole so should be taken as such.
It looks as if all that is needed is the torso, a couple of hands, and a knee and you have a complete body drawn out perfectly. If a solution works for a part of it then it should work for all to at least seem a reasonable possibility for the
whole complex/design.
