If the 3rd pyramid is aligned with the other two then if you are in front of the 1st you cannot see the 3rd. Also if the 3rd pyramid was shorter you would not have been able to see the apex of G3 from the apex of G1.

Because it is an easy way to determine the exact direction of Heliopolis. If you align yourself with G1 and G2 behind G2, on the ground then you cannot see Heliopolis, you have 2 huge pyramids blocking your view.
