Demonstration of learning ability

Having seen a few things done by hand that are nothing if not incredible, I can at least acknowledge that same initial feeling of 'impossible' before moving on to the 'man did this??'

Any such work or feat is *always* first greeted with a flat out impossible reaction. Then the intelligent go to work to figure out how.

Reminds me of the first time I discovered the (then) record for guiness book of records, standing high jump.

An Arab (Saudi Arabian) held it. At 25 feet. I've never verified the story, but since then I've seen an African bushman (aged some 17 years) jump straight up and land, on his feet, on the roof of a single-story house in America, so I've lost my reason to completely doubt the 25 feet.

I've seen *many* things that weren't credible to non-witnesses - some of them to the point where I don't even mention them to people that weren't there (like the 6 year old that dismantled solid oak stacked bunk beds, extracted (without breaking) a long 2x6 and used it to first break through, clean edges off, and ramp up and out a triple paned storm window) because they just wouldn't believe it, and would think I was off my rocker

All in all, it's nothing more than the adaptability and perseverance of the human spirit. Of course, if you allow for that - then you also have to allow that the *same* human spirit would later come along and say 'That's impossible, no one can do that!' when looking at the G1, or the Great Wall, or the tomb as mentioned above... Or 'You can't fly!'

From my perspective, it boils down to sheer stubborness. If you can put one rock on top of another, then it's just continued effort. If you can't, then you keep trying until you find a way. And *that* is the learning ability as demonstrated by both the AE builders, and CK in the quote above.
