The "Land of Horus" or the "Land of Rainbows" is a vast CO2 geyser field where the great pyramids were all built.
This water was of critical importance to the people and the economy in the far ancient days because it was good potable water. Later in the predynastic era it was important as the source of the water for growing ALL THE CROPS IN EGYPT during the PEAK GROWING SEASON while the Nile was flooded. Some crops (plants) need full sun and long days to grow to maturity. Such crops COULD NOT BE GROWN in the valley.
It wasn't until 3500 BC that they could fully utilize this water for building because this was when the drill was invented specifically to drill the ARMS OF THE SKY, or THE ARMS OF NUT who COULD NOT EVEN BE FERTILIZED WITHOUT PUTTING DOWN HER ARMS.
The king was responsible for the sun shinging and the crops growing. He was also responsible for water flowing from the Eye of Horus on the horizon (akhet) where the sun could be seen when it rose (in the Land of Rainbows). He was responsible for Osiris (the column of water) standing on the horizon while he was alive.
When the king died HE WAS THE COLUMN OF WATER!!! He was Osiris N. Just as Osiris was adorned with his "steps of light" so, too, was the dead king. The king's spirit mainfested in the rainbow. He became a messenger to the Gods as the rainbow and ascended upon and AS the pyramid that he could commune with his spirit in heaven (up on the pyramid in the Land of Rainbows).
The Ibis is the akh-bird or a living manifestation of this.
"In Egypt once known as "crested ibis or crested akh-bird (not to be confused with the Egyptian "sacred ibis" which was a different species). Their image appears in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and tomb art.
It is a medium sized ibis with a long curved beak, sombre black plumage that flashes purple and green when the light strikes it..."

The Pyramid Texts even state that two bulls fight inside the ibis. This is a reference to the fight between Osiris and Set. When one waxed the other waned and eventually Osiris was cast to the ground near the canal. (edited to add for clarity- two sources of water would still result in a single rainbow as observed from any given position) And Set was eventually sentenced to forever "swimming under Osiris" and "carrying him on his back". Simply stated the water was rerouted such that Set became the agent (bones) which carried Osiris. "Men buried themselves in the earth and the Gods flew up". It's all very straight forward really.
I realized only very recently that the Crested Ibis must be another representation of the rainbow. Imagine my surprise when the first picture of an ibis I googled up looked just like a rainbow and even changed colors in the light. I chose a different one to link to because this one has better wording and looks enough like a rainbow to make the point.
