GChase,
Some initial thoughts.
There doesn't appear to be any references on any artifacts that supports the Heb Sed as a stellar ritual that included the participation of nome gods (followers of horus), as to the latter rituals performed inside mortuary enclosures they were not public affairs once the procession entered the enclosure, there is no evidence to explain why, but it was probably the annual exchange of gifts offered by the king to maintain the bond of upper and lower Egypt. and here I think we might consider the kings boundary run representing the two lands rather than two sky's. The feast of the tail was a less important affair, and it refers to the tail of a wolf (not a bull) Wepwawet (Shaw 2003). Early evidence in the first dynasty comes from a label illustrating king Den's Heb Sed... but its arrangement (my opinion) reads right to left so that the seated king is after the runner not before, just odd to me.
I think, to extrapolate structural alignments from stars to obtain a 'visual' duplication of the stars is a creative approach, but I feel your using the speculations (theories) of others as proof to support your claim, and you should make that clear to the reader.
Dieter Arnold, regarding the purpose of mortuary enclosures and the structural progression that evolved during the early dynastic through old kingdom periods... at the heart of this he explains the early mortuary enclosures of the first dynasty eventually evolved into massive temple complexes such as Djoser's enclosure in the 3rd dynasty, Giza pyramid temples ect..., which more or less represented the coming together of the gods of upper and lower Egypt. In fact the pyramid mortuary temple complexes, not the pyramid, replicated the old venues of the early dynastic mortuary enclosures, entrance courtyard for the procession of nomes (gods), hall of statues and the offering platform built close to the eastern side of the pyramid.
The Heb Sed in the afterlife concept is a new kingdom derivation, where the feast of the tail was used to honor the living king and former dead kings, as the Heb Sed originally was based on and with the living king after ruling for 30+ years. However, annual feasts brought all the followers of Horus to the ruling kings mortuary temple complex. By the time the new kingdom arrived the royal house had not much land to gift to temple to support their mortuary complexes... hence no pyramid, no mortuary temple... just a hidden valley to be buried in...
