Hi Don it would have survived it hadn't been, not as completely but the foundation and modification too soil to accommodate it, the stone would still be there along with the places they were quarried.
Here is a T-pillar unfinished and left insitu - one can still see it and AFAWK it wasn't buried and we can still see it.
