Some of these signs are unclear so its difficult to know for certain what they are but this is my take on it:


The bird at the top of the pyramid may be G14, 'vulture', used in the word for 'mother'. Alternatively, G14a, 'vulture on basket', determinative in the name of the goddess Nekhbet (nxbt), the mother of the king.

"This Pepi knows his mother, this Pepi is not ignorant of his mother - the dazzling White Crown, Thick One in the midst of Nekheb, Lady of the Great House......." P 321 (Sethe Vol 2: 3; 910ab)

The cult centre of Nekhbet the vulture goddess was at Nekheb (nxb) opposite and twin to Nekhen (nxn), cult centre of Horus as god of kingship.

Beneath this the disk of the sun?

In the centre of the pyramid is what appears to be a combination of R13, 'Horus falcon on standard with feather' and R14, feather on standard - these represent the ideogram for 'west' (jmnt).

Beneath this standard, the four horizontal lines may be the upper part of a 'reed column' / 'Djed pillar' or perhaps stacks of offerings.


The figures at the bottom are holding a cord? - 'stretching the cord' ritual?


Either side of the top of the pyramid is the 'Sound Eye' (wDAt) of Horus. (the individual parts of the eye were used as fractions of grain measures)

On each side of the pyramid is a cobra / uraeus wearing the white crown of Upper Egypt.

"Neith is a falcon who has come [with] Horus's eye, (which is) the uraeus that came forth as a falcon, that came forth as Horus's eye" (Nt 6)


The west face of the Dyn 13 pyramidion of Khendjer has two cobras / uraei hanging down from the winged disc of the sun. A fragment from the west face also show R14, 'feather on standard' - ideogram for west.

The pyramidion of Amenemhet III, also has cobras / uraei hanging down from the disc of the winged sun, and beneath them, the two 'Sound Eyes' of Horus.
