On top of those valid and important site construction issues I want to add a possible sign from their divinities.
I have read in several sources that there was a prominence in bedrock on the Northeast corner that could be taken/was taken as the "first land of creation"...
IF that prominence existed, remembering they built replicas of this island in the inner sanctum of every temple built, the choice becomes a no brainer.
imho for them to ignore a natural outcrop resembling their concept of the island of creation goes beyond comprehension in how we believe they perceived things.
Now the $64 question, what documentation exists there was such a prominence?
