Culture is not what defines African, European or Asian. Ancestry does. African means being primarily of African ancestry. There is no doubt ancient Egypt was primarily of indigenous African ancestry, meaning people from in Africa, even though over time that has changed a lot in many parts of Egypt. Some people engage in double talk that can change African into meaning culture or any other arbitrary thing that then can be made separate and distinct from other Africans, making it not really African in the first place. If something is African then of course any African on the planet can claim it, no matter whether they are extremely light skinned descendants of mixed African and Eurasian parents or relatively pure Africans of primarily African parentage. African means any and all cultures, ethnicities, languages and customs originating in Africa and among people of primarily African ancestry. It does not mean culture as there is no one African culture to begin with that applies to all Africans across the continent. Therefore, to say that someone claiming Egypt as African is claiming it as their personal heritage is wrong. Otherwise, nobody from anywhere should claim anything if they have no direct cultural or ancestral connection to it, regardless of where they are from. Any African claiming Africa is claiming their birthright as being descendants of the people of Africa not any sort of personal heritage from any particular part of Africa, even though there are many Africans, Europeans and Asians who primarily identify with their own particular culture and ethnicity over and above being Asian, African or European. But the two things are not always mutually exclusive.
