You know it does amaze me.

The wheremacht and luftwaffe all ran and fought on SYNTHETIC oil. That was 60 years ago. This board talks alot abot lost civilizations and technology. That is the ultimate lost technology.

Maybe deliberately so.

Also. 1970's. Oil embargo. New SMALL cars introduced. less than ten years and the demand was concurrently reduced to the point that the oil producers were crying poverty.

Time to buy a Prius and dump the SUV's. They both get you from A to B. And at 20k a lot cheaper than even a base SUV. The new lithium battery Cherry cars are not far behind from China. And they use NO oil. And 5K might be a HIGH price for them. Every technology has its day in the sun and oil has used up its time. NASCAR might not be as much fun but then again it could be turned into a living museum of what was for those that can't kill the addiction to the oil stuff.

Oil is about politics and NOT economics.
