I loved the book, too. I agree about the end. It felt rather anti-climatic. It's kind of disappointing that we probably weren't getting the most accurate picture of geisha culture but it was fascinating story nonetheless. The character development in the book was fantastic with such strong female characters.
I'm definitely going to see the movie even if I am a wee bit tired of seeing Zhang Ziyi in every lead role in every US/Asian film... I am sure it won't be as good as the book because adaptations never are (like the "Goblet of Fire"--they cut ALOT out of that so that it felt more like a slideshow, imo). But it looks like it was beautifully filmed and that should be enjoyable on its own.
