Aha. Do you really think Brown wants do defame the CC and/or Opus Dei. Remember, the CC has its own noose and choose OF ITS OWN VOLITION to put its proverbial neck into it. It needs no help from Brown.
On to Opus Dei. Do you really think Brown wants to defame a group people don't even know about that likely has ZERO affect on their lives?
I would be quite interested in someone starting a thread as to their theories as to WHY Brown wrote DVC in the first place. I'm all over that like white on rice. It's quite transparent what he's up to. IOW, why did Brown have so many glaring inaccuracies with respect to simple, researchable facts in his book. Think about it (it's a two-fold answer).

And while that may be, the possibility for this misrepresentation to "harm" society is virtually nil.

Correct. Why such a fuss over a fictional book. It it were a nonfiction book that sold 10 copies, would you be whining just as much about "history"?

Shephard of Hermas - 2[79]:2 Now this rock was ancient, and had a gate hewn out of it; but the gate seemed to me to have been hewed out quite recently. And the gate glistened beyond the brightness of the sun, so that I marvelled at the brightness of the gate.
