First, with regards to the "coincidences" of choosing the specific memories...
I think it is stated that the memories we see are ALL the memories of Voldemort's life. They make quite a point that ANY evidence is quite scarce. That's why I think it's too much to expect that ALL the clues will be in the remaining memories.
It's like expecting to find ALL we can know about ancient Egypt by reading the Pyramid Texts.
Now, I think Snape was VERY emphatic in pointing out Harry's weaknesses in that last fight scene. It's obvious Harry has a long way to go before he's ready to take on Voldemort.
With regards to the "feelings" having an effect on the curse being cast, we see several examples of it. Ridikulus, as one, and then there's one dark spell that would only work if the casters heart was really in it... the unforgivable pain spell... Crucia... ahh... whatever that one is. I am pretty sure you have to be emotionally committed to that one, much like a Expecto Patronum. That's probably the clearest example, anyway.
Now, I have the copy in front of me, and you're absolutely right about the screaming and the phoenix. I blew right through that, waiting to see what would happen next. I KNEW I would regret it!
And now, to steal your words:
Quote
The Ministry of Magic seems corrupt. It's too coincidental that their offices were breached so easily. Umbridge is definitely corrupt...Rufus Scrimgeour is a vampire.
Oh, now you're listening to Loony Lovegood! Come on, Stephanie....

Could it be possible that there are deatheaters in high level ministry positions?
It's almost a given. I wonder if Percy has been under a spell for four years!

I can just see it now, the ministry of magic is purged, Percy returns to the family and Mr. Weasley is the next minister of magic. Otherwise, there is just going to be unresolved issues that Rowling never closed up.
Well, if Arthur becomes the Minister, then Percy, the little brown-noser, will have no CHOICE but to try and get back in his parent's good graces! LOL.
There's also rumours flying that R.A.B. might be Burke, of Borgins and Burke. His first name, however, was Caractacus. Borgin's first name might be found in book 3, as that's the guy behind the counter. I think Lucius might have called him by name.
Great stuff. I love this!
